Can you remap an ATV or side-by-side?

Can you remap an ATV or side-by-side?

Yes, if it’s in our tables. We list 63 ATV and side-by-side (UTV) variants across 17 models from Can-Am, Polaris, CFMOTO and Kymco, including the Can-Am Maverick, Polaris RZR and CFMOTO CForce. Like a motorcycle, these machines have an ECU managing the engine, and we write remaps for them in-house.

In short

  • Our tables list 18 ATV (quad) variants and 45 side-by-side variants from four makes.
  • Standard outputs run from 20bhp to 194bhp.
  • A remap can adjust fuelling, spark advance, throttle response curves and torque limiters, and can be written for any modifications.

Which ATVs and side-by-sides are in our tables?

Make ATV / quad models Side-by-side (UTV) models Listed variants
Can-Am/BRP Outlander, Renegade X Commander, Defender, Maverick, Traxter 24
Polaris Scrambler XP EPS, Sportsman ACE, General, Ranger, RZR 28
CFMOTO CForce, X8 Terralander UForce, ZForce 10
Kymco UXV 1
Total 6 models, 18 variants 11 models, 45 variants 63

Each make page lists every variant with its standard power in kW, PS and bhp. Standard outputs run from 20bhp on the Kymco UXV 400i to 194bhp on the most powerful Can-Am Maverick. The Maverick and the Polaris RZR have the most entries, with 11 variants each, followed by the Polaris Ranger with 10. Several are turbocharged, including 1.0-litre turbo versions of the Maverick, RZR and Ranger.

Our Can-Am page also lists the road-going Spyder RT and Ryker, and our Polaris page lists a buggy and a snowmobile. If your machine isn’t listed, call us to ask.

What does a remap change?

A remap rewrites the settings in the machine’s own ECU, from fuelling and spark advance to throttle response curves and torque limiters. Our guide to what motorcycle remapping is explains what the ECU controls.

Because our map writers work in-house, we can write the map around what you need from the machine and around any parts you’ve fitted. If you’ve changed the exhaust or air intake, our advice is to remap so the engine runs correctly with the new parts; the factory map was calibrated for the standard ones. Our guide to remapping after an exhaust explains why.

Remapping also saves the expense of buying a tuning module or “piggy back ECU”. If you’re weighing up the two, see remap vs Power Commander.

How do you get an ATV or UTV remapped?

All of our remaps are developed by our in-house team of map writers, and we don’t use base maps from other companies. You can have your machine remapped at our Burnley workshop, at home with our ECU Flasher where your model is supported (check the BHP UK shop), or by sending us the ECU; remap your bike at home explains each route. We offer a free consultation to discuss your needs.
